Dr Christopher Earley Philosophy of Art University of Liverpool

I am a philosopher working on aesthetics.

My current research focuses on why artists make things so hard for audiences, why everyone seems so happy about this, how we can learn from art, and how aesthetic artifacts help us work out our place in history.

I am British Society of Aesthetics Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Liverpool and co-editor of the journal Debates in Aesthetics. Prior to this, I was an Institute of Advanced Studies Early Career Fellow at the University of Warwick, where I also completed my doctoral studies.

To see more about my current research projects, have a look at my publications. For a list of recent talks, teaching engagements, and other activities, see my CV. For anything else, feel free to send me an email.

As well as working in philosophy, I am also a practicing artist. You can find out about my other life here.
